As a society we produce an alarming amount of plastic waste. Almost everything we buy contains plastic or comes wrapped in it. Due to the strength of plastic, it poses a huge threat to ecological systems when it enters the natural environment. A process was explored by which plastic waste could be remelted into a useful material with simple household tools as a way of empowering consumers. The resulting product was a elegant and complex design to highlight the potential of our waste. The chair is a demonstration of the potential beauty and strength that is embedded within single-use plastic which we so often overlook as a society due to its abundance as a material.
